I believe that good design is long-lasting, sustainable, innovative, and elegant.
Design is a tool. Everything around us is designed to fulfill a certain purpose, and that's where its utility comes from.
Design should not overwhelm or manipulate the user but rather try to aid them in accomplishing a task. Great design has a lasting presence because it provides a structure for the product's current use while allowing future possible uses and applications. It does not succumb to trends. It is reliable and trustworthy because it gives consistency of use. As a result, it's sustainable.
My design journey began in an interactive media and design art class at Smith College. I was already studying Film and Media, but enjoyed the process of using technology as another medium to create experiences.
Looking back, I realize that this class taught me to think like the user.
I graduated from Smith College with a degree in Film and Media studies and minor in arts and technology. I was always interested of working at the intersection of human centered experiences and technology.
I worked in the film and entertainment industry for four years. From working on a reality television show as a production assistant to fact-checking episodes for a documentary series, I learned more about storytelling and connecting with audiences. Little did I know that this was a precursor for learning how to communicate and empathize with users.
After a few years in the entertainment industry, I pivoted careers in 2020. I went through Google’s UX Design Professional certification program and began providing my design services to small businesses. I have been working for a small fashion business for the past year and half.
